48 hours down

Hello Deqlans Army

Well we are 48 hours post op and Deqlan looking fantastic! He has had formula today and juice and water and tolerated it all very well, we are so pleased!

More exciting news, for me anyway, is that Deqlan has had two dirty nappies which means his intestines are definitely working ! As i mentioned 6 months ago, after our nightmare experience at Kloof, i will never ever complain about a dirty nappy again! They are a wonderful sign that things are working as they should be!

Deqlan look great and even played a bit of peek a boo today with Dad under the pillows. He also gave Mamma, Nanna and Meggy a hint of a smile when we put telly tubbys on for him to watch. Grandpa also tried to play peek a boo which normally has our Deqlan in roars of laughter, but not just quite yet - a few more days and Im sure he shall have us all laughing again !

The surgeon mentioned us possibly going home tonight or tommorow - its already quite late so im sure it will probably be tomorow - this is fine with us as we can just keep a closer eye on Deqlan for 1 more night before going home. The drip came out of Deqlans foot this afternoon, but he still seems to get a slightly high temp at times, which is now being controlled with Calpol, they want to wean him off the stronger medication - boy is the stuff strong - valerone drops - 2 tiny drops is all it takes to take the pain away, fantastic stuff!

I called our oncologist to give him an update and to also pre warn that we will be needing to still do a bone marrow aspiration - shall call him as soon as we are discharged to make the arrangements - its seems to be taking forever to get all the tests done, but we got to be patient and remember in Gods time.

Deqlan and Dad are now resting - Dad had a rough night last night with the alarm going off and dogs barking through out the night, but thank Our Lord no funny business, perhaps they where barking at the birds or dogs next door - but you can never be to careful.

Deqlan and I had a much better night and he only awoke 3 or 4 times but slept most of the night, looked very comfy and stable.

I still have a little touch of flu, finally recieved the medicine i needed this morning and feel a little better, but still wearing a mask and being extra causious. Can you believe the chemist closes at 8pm and there is no other medicine available to me after this time - so i had to wait until Debbie helped us this morning! Unebelievable - in a hospital and i couldnt get medicine, ha ha ha ha ha

The nurses have also commented on how strong Deqlan is and how quickly he has recovered . The ward is looking lovely - decorated beautifully for Christmas. Today the nurses came around and aksed us to write a letter to Santa which they have pasted at the entrance. Deqlans said:
