Hello Friends in South Africa!

Please remember to go and vote today! It is a huge significant day in our history and your vote can make the difference - i have heard a few people of the last few days, saying they not going to vote, they are just going to enjoy the public holiday - please please just take an hour out of your day and go and make your mark and be involved in deciding on the future of our beautiful country!

Happy 3rd Birthday big boy for 13 April! We are so sorry we never managed to wish you on the day, but we saw you had a Thomas celebration!!!!! Wow!!!! Deqlans theme party this year will also be Thomas, as I am sure you know by now Thomas is Deqlans best buddy! We hope you had a wonderful celebration! Stay the inspiration you are , prayers for you to remain NED forever and ever and ever!

Net om julle op hoogte te bring, het gister met CHOC gepraat. Hulle het omtrent so 20 kindertjies op 'n slag in die hospitaal (Tygerberg). Hulle beplan 'n 'Christmas in June event' vir die 13de Junie, dan gaan al die kankerpasientjies by die hospitaal wees....tussen 300 & 400 kindertjies, so ons beplanning om die uitdeel van die sakkies op Declan se verjaarsdag (14 Junie) te doen, gaan nie heeltemal werk nie!! Ek het vir haar gevra of ons nie miskien die 2 events kan 'combine' nie....dit maak dit sommer so bietjie meer soos Kersfees, want dan kan ons die toiletsakkies in geskenkpapier toedraai, sodoende kry elkeen sommer 'n REGTE EGTE Kersgeskenk........DIE PROBLEEM........ons moet dan tussen 300 en 400 toiletsakkies kan voorberei (sy sal vir my later die presiese getal gee), so asseblief, as julle van nog mense weet wat nog nie bewus is van hierdie projek nie, stuur asseblief die vorige mails vir hulle aan, of as julle van enige groot besighede weet wat dalk vir ons 'n finansiele bydrae kan maak of ENIGE ander skenkings kan gee (toiletsakkies/geskenkpapier/handdo eke ens.), kontak hulle asseblief, of stuur vir my die besonderhede sodat ek hulle kan kontak!!! Laat weet maar hoe julle daaroor voel om die 2 projekte te kombineer!!!

What a day.....

DEQLAN WEARING SHOES, HE LOOKED SO CUTE!
RUNNING IN THE ROAD

DEQLANS FRIEND, CROSSING, ZEBRA CROSSING THAT IS - DEQLAN LOVES RUNNING UP AND DOWN THE LINE, EXACTLY ON THE LINE

I know, i have been very slack in our updates, especially about our beautiful boy, afterall, this is his spot!

I promise to give lots of updates, but just needed somewhere to unload and ears and eyes wanting to read and experience the day we have had!

It started off very well, our Deqlan got a haircut from his Dada last night, it took over 4 hours as we had to wait for Deqlan to stand or sit still even for a few minutes - but eventually Dad got the job done and we think he looks very smart indeed! So excitedly we got ready this morning for speech and occupational therapy, ready to show off the new 'do'.

We arrived and Deqlan was all smiles looking so forward to approaching his beloved pond and koi fish, but Anneke told us it was inside time today. Oh Boy. I have never seen Deqlan throw a tantrum like he did today. He made it very clear he was not happy at all to be contained inside the therapy centre and would not even look at the normal things that intrigue him and calm him down. He screamed and screamed and stomped and rocked and just looked at me, begging for help. I really wanted to just open the door and run back to the Midlands with my boy. But, we had to inforce this boundry to try and teach Deqlan we need to do therapy inside.

Eventually one of the other therapists pulled out a page of Thomas stickers! Bingo! Immediate calm down....for a few mintues, Deqlan was delighted to look at Thomas, James and Percy . Aneke then tried to stick a Thomas sticker on Deqlans hand and he wasnt having it , and the tears and cries of unhappiness started again. I started saying something that Deqlan loves at the moment, its a line from one of his Thomas DVDS - 'PERCY IS PULLING PEOPLE, WITH PINEAPPLES, A PIANO, AND PRESENTS ON THE WAY TO A PARTY' Normally we get a smile and a laugh - today not so lucky, but it did help in calming him down. Deqlan came and sat on my lap, and i just kept on repeating this words, holding him and stroking his tummy and legs while he looked at the stickers. Anneke tried to bring another wooden train to Deqlan to try and salvage something of this session - but this upset Deqlan even more and there was no calming down after that and eventually after half an hour , we decided Deqlan was not having therapy today. As soon as he was safely in Nanna's arms, everything was alright and well in Deqlans world again.

On the way home, i stalled , there was a strange oil smell and an orange light on my dash appeared, so we decided to stop at the garage to make sure everything was ok. As i pulled up to the petrol pump, the car next to me had his car door wide open , so i had to squeeze into the space left. luckily all was fine with my car, and i proceeded to drive off when i felt my car being crunched against something - my mom shouting ' Sam?" from the back . I had parked so close to the petrol pump to avoid hitting the very inconsiderate man , that i didnt see the metal barrier around the pump to prevent people driving into it! Well, there we were , the barrier making a dent into my front door and back door, back fender - and not just dents , scratches, huge ones. The dents were so bad, we couldnt open the doors. In anger i turned my car around to go back to Mr Inconsiderate to let me know what he had caused.

He immediately started swearing at us, and Nanna got very upset , but kept her calm and just kept saying " God Bless You" in response to his foul and offensive language and words - disgusting. I told him that i knew the company he worked for - he was in a branded car - and he gave me his approval with a swear word or ten when i told him i was going to call the owner..which I did. He was so disapointed and said things are really bad when your workers just pull your business down with their dont care attitudes - its just a job to them, not a business that they have invested there everything into and poured their blood sweat and tears for. We are in touch and i await his reponse. My car looks terrible, bruised and buckled, sad and sore. Mark washed her yesterday and she looked so beautiful and shiny and clean, i was so heartbroken to tell Mark, but he was understanding and grateful that Deqlan , Nanna and I were not hurt and that the car was still driveable.

Meggie cheered the day up by bringing some much needed chocolate croissants and got us the most beautiful Dolphin night light which i can wait to show Deqlan tonight.

I am not complaing, i have so much to be grateful and thankful for, its just a piece of metal - i just didnt want to put extra stress on Mark, who also has our broken tumble dryer to sort out this week....

Thank you Lord that we are fine, thank you that you perhaps took us off the road at that time to prevent something worse happening. Thank you Deqlan and Nanna and I are safe and thank you for the amazing support and prayers from our family and friends.

The pregnant fairy arriving

On Saturday, we eagerly attended Lisa's baby shower! Lisa is always the one planning the bridal showers and kitchen teas and baby showers and we were so thrilled that it was finally here turn! Was wonderful to catch up with all the girls and oohh and aaahhh at all the beautiful gifts Lisa recieved! Cole is one lucky little man and will be so kitted out when he arrives, he will giving fashionable babies in the know, a run for their money! May your last few weeks of being a pregnant fairy, be safe and special and relaxing Lisa! We cant wait to meet your beautiful baby boy!
